Hey Mary,
Just back from a wedding gig S. of Grand Rapids, MI, with Bill VanLiere (mandolin), and we're looking at you on UTUBE. Impressive!
I'm pretty sure you have just become my banjo hero. I came across your Secret Life of a Banjo blog a couple days ago when looking for banjo music, and I am blown way. I just bought a banjo and right after new year's and plan to teach myself how to play, and after reading your blog and listening some of your music(which is epic!)I've been making record progress. Thanks for the inspiration!
Kelly :)
Hi, I was wondering if your tab book is available in any kind of electronic form, PDF etc? I would really love to but it to have on my iPad :)
Keep up the great work.
Cheers,
Aaron
P.S would love to see you come to Australia
Love your new cd "The Girl With the Banjo Tattoo"!
I received your Vintage Banjo tab book a couple weeks ago and am having a positively great time with it. Thanks for all the videos and cd's you've put out there for people like me to discover and fall in love with!
I do not write fan letters, however when someone does something that enriches your life you should let them know. You have. I listen to folk music a great deal, and to banjo in particular. You playing embodies simple elegance. Pure, direct and honest. It reaches me in a way others have not since Sandy Bull many years past.
So, thank you for doing what you do. My life is the better for it.
Stuart Paine
I enjoyed very much your collection of favorite banjos, I too am dazzled by pretty inlays. Best to you in your music career.

Good clawhammering!
Mary, Hello from another clawhammer player out here in Scappoose Oregon. Love your tunes, especially your rendition of Blackberry Blossom.. !!
Hi, just wondering if you post CD's to the Uk and if so, approximatly how long do they take to deliver?
Many thanks,
Ryan
Hey, the short clips are too short! I might have to buy a CD or something. Very interesting sound. Came here to listen & to find out what tunes to pick next time you're at the Tuesday night jam.
Hi Mary
You are so inspiring! - Just bought myself a banjo and working on it ( normally play piano accordion and djembe). Would love to come to a workshop but I'm in London UK so not likely at the moment.
Anyway, thanks for the inspuration
:)Lou
I am looking forward to your clawhammer banjo workshop at the J.C. Campbell Folk School in November. Several people have told me you are an excellent teacher as well as a terrific performance artist.
Your creativity is amazing! I love the music on "Drumming On the Edge of Banjo". Thanks for the tip: A banjo did call to me and now I can't put it down.
Love your new website!! Music is fantastic.
Hope your Thinline Armrest is working well for you.

Thanks for your new dulcimer Youtube post. Now, that's a snazzy looking instrument....and, it matches the pups!!! Great to see you three, and "hi" to Bob.
I was truly impressed with what I heard and discovered on your sight. I play guitar and mandolin and have taken up clawhammer banjo and am taking lesson from a very talented fellow. Yet saw the real potential in your music and books. I will be ordering some of your recordings and things and just wanted to reach out and say thank you for your musical insight. Please put me on your mailing list, all the best Loren

Hello Mary and Yazid. I have a student in art class who mentioned that he is learning to play the banjo. I mentioned your name (Mary Z. Cox) as an accomplished player. I listened to several cuts on this website and you really sound good. I've met you at Lake Ella playing with Yazid a year or so ago. I just played a gig at Hawks rise with Yazid last week. Say Hello to Yazid for me. Thanks for the great music and interesting webstie.

Wonderful stuff Mary! I love the way you play. Brings back a lot of fond memories of my younger days playing mandolin with good people who played great music. I have a claw hammer- can't play the banjo but:) Jay x
I can't wait to hear your new endeavor with African drumming and banjo! You are truly inspirational.

I love you for your "Cindy". Keep up the great work!
Finding your music has been wonderful. Florida Banjo is awesome. I play clawhammer and listening to your tunes has been inspiring.
Please publish more about your instruments, tuning, and playing style.
I really enjoyed your clawhammer banjo style. The deering open back ,the one with the Mermaid inlay has is a real good looking instrument, and a sensational sound.I play 5 string Scruggs style bluegrass. Where can I buy a C.D. or a DVD

Derick (Spike)
I found your website thru Judy at Silicone Heights in Albuquerque. I'm glad I found you! I love the banjo!
Do you play your RB-250 very much any more? I sort of fell into one and like it pretty well for frailing (never figured out why I need to drop thumb yet). A little dry sounding but louder enough to play in a group setting. Your Vintage Banjo CD is my favorite.
Thanks for the heads up on Amazon about your tab books! Glad I visited here. You're the best clawhammer player I've ever heard. Keep up the good work and pray for the rest of us who aspire to your skill and talent!!
I have just become aware of Mary's awesome banjo playing. I am looking for the untitled Irish sound that is on her banjohangout site / video. If that sound is on a tab / CD, I would like to know which one to buy.
Glenn Lewis "Lewgrass"
I enjoyed your classes at
Stephen Foster. Thanks
Thanks~!
I like you site
Hi Mary,
I'm a friend of Lo & Mary Gordon, teaching mountain dulcimer out of their shop these days. I noticed that you're at John C Campbell's April 12. We do an annual Dulcimer Day the following weekend in Brevard (18th) - would you be interested? You could do a combined banjo/dulcimer day if you prefer.
Thanks,
Don Burger
Hi Mary,If you could only own one banjo - for clawhammer -please describe what are the most important things you'd look for
thanks - love the books and CD's, learned more banjo from you in 2 years than over past 20 years
Hello AJ,
There are banjo tab books to all of my CDs--except Dulcimer Fandango--which is out of print.
I think there may still be a couple for sale at County Sales online.

Hi Mary,
Just had a look round your site and that's the sweetest 'Dixie' I've heard in a very long time......
Hello I purchased a Goodtime 5-string banjo last year and was wondering since I am a beginer trying to teach myself. Does your tab books show how to play a banjo clawhammer style? Because I was learning bluegrass style but would love to learn clwahammer.
Was showing my Dad's mom your website.
Thanks for having me this weekend!
Love,
Mike
Hi Mary, It was very nice meeting you at Curves the other day. Keep up the good work.
Hi Mary. I heard that you were in Mountain View AR and had a jam with my friends Lukas and Martin. Sorry I missed it. Do you still have your banjo basset? I have a basset hound pup name Roscoe Holcomb Ryan. I went to Swannanoa last summer but am using this summer just to practice all the great stuff I've gotten at camps the last few years. It's enough to last a lifetime....well maybe not!Have a nice summer
Are we going to see you 2 there this yr.?
After the Albuquerque Folk Festival, the Muddy River String Band retrieved their box of CDs from the sales table. Inside the box was a CD that was not ours. Everyone commented on the mystery CD, and finally showed it to me. That was when I realized that you had placed your CD in our box! I was very touched that you would do that. I can't wait to hear you again and play some banjo 'cello duets. Soldier's Joy Waltz and Angeline the Baker, my favorites!
Hello, it was nice to meet the both of you on my roadtrip this summer. Hope to see you both soon.
Hi Mary,
It was so great to hear you last Saturday at Cal Tech! You and your husband present great music with a very welcoming atmosphere!
Hearing and talking with you and Bob at the KOA in Holbrook was a real treat - thanks for sharing!
Jill,
I think those tenor bnjos are tuned and played more like a mandolin. They are played alot with Celtic Music--so I would look for a tenor banjo class at an Irish or Celtic type of workshop or camp. :)
Best wishes,
Mary Z. Cox
I just bought a tenor banjo, been lookin for yrs. Finialy found the and bought the one I want. I have just started teaching myself to play, been playing dulcimer for 4 yrs. Can I use your tab books for my banjo??? If I go to a festival, can I use my tenor in a claw hammer banjo class??
Thank you Jill
Nice site. very well done.
Love the new website Mary. Nicely done. I think it's very 'you'!
Oh goody! A new album! I'll be ordering mine soon :-)
Hello James,
Yes, we are on itunes and about 60 other digital download sources. Just type in my name on itunes and the CDs will come up on the store.
Tab books have simple tab to the tunes on the CD with historical and playing notes and historical pix--no music notation--but I think you will find them enjoyable and fun. :)
Best wishes,
Mary Z. Cox
Very nice site. Love your playing.
Is there any place I can download your albums (mp3) instead of having them shipped?
Does your tab books also include the music notation?
Nice site. I especially enjoyed the audio clips.
Hi Mary,
Great new site. Looking forward to your new DVD when its ready. Hope its soon. I need it.
Take care,
Sandra
